Beautiful Recovery
Updated: Nov 6, 2022
Stephanie and I were so close. When I reached out to offer her help, she kept telling me that no one could understand addiction. It was then that I told her that wasn’t true. I had been in recovery, myself, for 2 years at that time. She was shocked. She thought I always had “it” all together. It was then I told her that addiction doesn’t discriminate. She agreed to come live with me so that she would be around people in recovery who would understand and could help her along the way.
We went through 3 long days and 2 long nights of her going through withdrawals. Then, together, we began our recovery. We journaled, went to NA meetings, saw therapists, started going back to church, and we’re doing service work. It felt so good to be able to take this journey together.
So, what is addiction?
